Chunga Chipwaila was born and raised in Monze, Zambia. Previously, he was actively involved with a local social welfare office that helped identify the vulnerable populations in his community. He graduated from the University of Zambia with a degree in demography and immediately started tutoring undergraduate students. While tutoring, Chunga was part of the evaluation team for the Saving Mothers, Giving Life project aimed at improving the maternal health of women in Zambia. Before joining GHC, Chunga worked as a monitoring and evaluation expert for an innovative human rights project coordinated by the Danish Institute of Human Rights at Kukula Capital Plc. The project aims at improving workers’ rights to health, water, housing, and sanitation. Chunga is in his final year of a master’s degree in public health.
