Christian Benimana was born in Kigali, Rwanda in 1982. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tong Ji University in Shanghai, China. Since completing his studies in 2010, he has been working as an academic staff for the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology in Rwanda (KIST). Within the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design of KIST, he was appointed a coordinator of a career development workshop series and the KIST-IUAV (Instituto Universita Architettura di Venezia) collaboration. The workshop was on tradition and innovation in the use of vegetable fibers for construction and design and the outcome of the workshop was displayed in the Biennale Di Venezia in September 2010. It marked Rwanda’s first time participating in this event. He joined the Global Health Corps after a year working for KIST, and is delighted to design facilities for health related services.
