Elizabeth Wetzel is from Dayton, Ohio. She attended the University of Dayton where she majored in biology and minored in social work. In her time at the University of Dayton, Elizabeth was a student leader in the human rights organization Face Aids, which sparked her interest in global health equity. After graduation, Elizabeth traveled to Malawi where she spent six weeks studying the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Elizabeth continued her education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, with a focus on global health epidemiology. During graduate school, she traveled to Hat Yai, Thailand to study breast cancer disparities and completed her capstone project on breast cancer survival outcomes in Songkhla, Thailand. Elizabeth loves to travel and spend time with friends and family.
