Fatsani is from Malawi. She obtained a Bachelor's in Journalism from the University of Malawi, Polytechnic, and has since worked with a number of organizations in the country. During her second and third years of undergraduate study, she worked for the National Audit and the Tobacco Control Commission (TCC). At the National Audit, she audited government departments, including one of the central hospitals in Malawi, the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. There, she audited all the procured pharmaceuticals. At TCC, she worked as an intern in the Public Relations Department, where she compiled the Commission's annual report and designed brochures. After completing her studies she worked at Standard Bank as a bank teller before becoming a GHC fellow.
