Gloria Oweta is originally from Lira District, Uganda. Gloria has been actively involved with small scale famers working with the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) as well as a researcher for the National Crop Resource Research Institute (NaCRRI) in Namulonge. She also recently volunteered for a women’s group in Lira District, where she worked with women-headed households who were food insecure and were interested in growing QPM maize and rice to improve household food and income. The group used a rotational labor approach to expand their production and group marketing to lobby for the best prices for their production. In her undergraduate career, she studied animal science at Makerere University and recently completed her master’s degree in sustainable agriculture and food security.
