Hisham Al Kukhun hails from Amman, Jordan. He earned his degree in medicine from Jordan University of Science and Technology. As a medical student, he co-established a free mobile clinic sponsored by Tzu-Chi Foundation which provided care and food assistance to under-served populations in rural Jordan. Following graduation, Hisham volunteered with a number of organizations delivering care to refugees in Jordan, and worked as a general practitioner for International Medical Corps, where he led the Mobile Medical Unit project. In this role, Hisham delivered care to urban refugees and populations of hard-to-reach villages in Jordan, and contributed to population health research studying the impact of war on dialysis dependent refugees. While in medical school, he spent a year at Leiden University in the Netherlands as an Erasmus research scholar, and a semester at Vanderbilt University as a visiting medical student. He completed a global health summer program at the University of Toronto, and served as a World Health Organization delegate at the Harvard National Model United Nations. In his free time, Hisham enjoys traveling, biking, and spending time outdoors.
