Ian graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of California, Berkeley in 2008 with interdisciplinary honors in Critical Studies in Gender, Health, and Migration. At Berkeley, Ian was active in a number of global health related student groups, founding the Berkeley chapter of FACE AIDS, and working with Universities Allied for Essential Medicines. Most recently, Ian worked with International Professional Partnerships for Sierra Leone, an NGO he co-founded aimed at building governmental capacity in the country. Previously, Ian worked for 5 years as a Residential Counselor at an AIDS Hospice in San Francisco for low income individuals with psychiatric and substance abuse issues. He has also worked in rural Honduras with a mobile clinic. Ian spent most of his youth in Boulder, CO, and though he has lived in rural Montana, Vancouver, B.C., Córdoba, Spain, and Washington D.C., Ian is proud to call San Francisco home. In his spare time, Ian practices yoga, is an outdoor sports enthusiast, loves farmer’s markets, and enjoys cooking with loved ones.
