Title: Program Manager
Every day I am motivated by engaging in an activity that can create a positive change in the lives of marginalized people.

Irene Nakakande was born in Kampala, Uganda. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Makerere University. She was inspired to study education because of her drive to work with young people. Irene was a teacher at the Bwaise Parents High School until 2010 and then went on to work with Somero Uganda, an organization that empowers young women, where she facilitated a number of trainings including HIV/AIDS prevention, peer education, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, financial literacy, savings and loans education and leadership trainings. In addition, she volunteered to plan and facilitate literacy classes focusing on history and entrepreneurship for young people who did not attend school. Irene is a great supporter of a program that ensures young pregnant mothers can continue their education through classes in their community. Before joining GHC, she was an E-based facilitator of sexual education for out-of-school youth in Kawempe division.
