The majority of disparities in health can be corrected within the sphere of human influence, especially through addressing avoidable circumstances. Health equity is achievable.

James is originally from Kampala, Uganda. Prior to joining GHC, James worked as an intensive care unit nurse at Nakasero Hospital and since 2011 has volunteered with Project Helping Hands, which provides free medical care and health education to communities in Uganda and Kenya. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Makerere University and trained in midwifery at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. At Makerere University, he fundraised for maternity supplies for poor mothers at the Mulago Hospital. As an intern at the Uganda Village Project, James set up public health interventions in Eastern Uganda before joining Mbarara Hospital for a yearlong clinical internship. He enjoys reading, traveling and painting.
