Jane was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she spent the past 3 years working as an urban farmer for Grow Pittsburgh, a non-profit whose mission is to demonstrate, teach, and promote sustainable agriculture in an urban environment. As manager of the non-profit’s greenhouse and Shiloh Farm, Jane instituted a low-income Community Supported Agriculture program that allowed local community members to purchase their farm’s produce using their Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Since 2010, Jane served as Vice President of the board for Allegheny CleanWays, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering communities in the Pittsburgh region to stand together and eradicating the illegal dumping by local industries. She also volunteers with HandsOn Tech, an organization that provides free tech support to nonprofits. Jane received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University where she majored in International Relations with a concentration in African Regional Studies. In her free time, Jane enjoys biking, baking, and gardening.
