Health equity is the ability of all people to access the highest quality of health care regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, gender, disability or age in order to contribute productively to development.

Born in Zomba, Malawi, Jessie Mphande is a passionate contributor to health research and the provision of impactful health interventions for all populations. Prior to joining GHC, Jessie worked as a Research Assistant with the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP) where she supported a number of health research projects on topics including antimicrobial resistance, post-tuberculosis wellbeing and sexual and reproductive health. Her work has been published by BMC Health Services Research and PLOS Global Public Health. Prior to joining AFIDEP, she served as a research assistant for various health projects. In her free time, Jessie enjoys cooking and adventuring in new places.
