Joan lives in Kampala. She completed her master’s degree in corporate communication and reputation management from the University of Manchester. Since graduating, Joan has volunteered with Shelters for Women and Children, a startup NGO dedicated to helping women who are victims of domestic abuse, where she assists in proposal writing and communications. She also interned with the Public Relations and Advocacy Department and Youth Corner at the AIDS Information Centre, where she helped develop IEC materials targeting teenagers and young adults on issues of reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. Previously, Joan worked with the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservation Trust as an Information Officer, where she organized fundraising events, community engagement and sustainable livelihood projects. Joan’s interest in international development has been greatly inspired by her father’s work in community development. She enjoys organizing events, traveling, and baking.
