"Community means validation of self in the face of a world that tells you that you don't fit. Community is the radical act of belonging."

Jonathan graduated with Highest Honors in Comparative American Studies from Oberlin College in 2011. During his time at Oberlin, Jonathan served as the Accessibility Chair of the Sexual Information Center (SIC), charged with the task of ensuring the SIC was open and embracing for students of all backgrounds and identities. As a trained sexual health counselor, Jonathan collaborated with and offered assistance to students and community members in Oberlin relating to issues of sexual health, education, and identity. Additionally, Jonathan worked as an HIV Peer Tester and an intern at Family Planning Services in Lorain County, Ohio, working with a variety of communities to prevent the spread of HIV. Before joining GHC, Jonathan worked as an English teacher in Myjava, Slovakia, through the Fulbright Commission. He hopes to one day attain a PhD in American Studies, using the academy as a site for profound and lasting positive social change.
