Kalin Werner was born and raised in California’s bay area. Since 2014, she has worked as a Public Health Associate for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, driving programming in chronic disease and maternal and child health at the Lee County Health Department. Kalin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles where she majored in geography and environmental health and minored in public health, global studies and Spanish. While at UCLA, she was a campaign coordinator and grassroots onsite work intern for GlobeMed. During this time, Kalin traveled to Uganda where she worked with chapter partner organization, The Nwoya Youth Center, to launch a micro financing initiative for young mothers based on goat rearing. Prior to joining GHC, she spent six months in Malaysia working to provide mental health services to refugees in Kuala Lumpur. Kalin enjoys spending her time hiking to new elevations, supporting Manchester United and finding the perfect cream cheese bagel.
