Title: Nutritional Technical Support Fellow
I am motivated by the potential that both empathy and compassion can have in developing determination, driving action and creating meaningful, sustainable change.

Kathryn (Katie) Beck grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey. She majored in nutrition and food studies at New York University and during that time studied abroad in Ghana and participated in a nutrition assessment of a local village with students at the University of Ghana-Legon. After graduating from New York University, Katie went on to complete a Dietetic Internship and became a Registered Dietician. She worked as a Clinical Dietitian and later as a Clinical Nutrition Manager where she counseled patients on how to use nutrition to prevent and treat disease. Katie pursued a Master of Public Health, concentrating on global health, at the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Her practicum was with Soft Power Health in Uganda where she evaluated the organization’s malnutrition outreach program. Prior to joining GHC, Katie interned with Health Equity Initiative, a New York-based NGO. She enjoys traveling, cooking, spending time with her family and is currently learning French.
