Based in West Orange, New Jersey, Kenicia McGarrell brings a wealth of expertise in health education and community health to her work as a Prevention Consultant at New Jersey Community Development Corporation NJ4s (Statewide Student Support Services) for Passaic County. In that role, she leads education efforts alongside community partners and school officials to address pressing barriers facing Passaic County youth populations. Throughout her tenure, Kenicia has served over 6,000 students through initiatives like Project HOPE, a project aimed at assisting youth facing homelessness to maintain dignity and innocence. She has also provided community-centered education initiatives providing workshops on teen dating violence, cyberbullying, mental health, and more. She designs culturally appropriate and effective materials for NJ4S, in partnership with local parents and community stakeholders. Kenicia recognizes the value of networking and collaboration in today’s interconnected world. She is eager to engage with the diverse individuals and teams that make up the GHC community. As a GHC fellow, Kenicia looks forward to “cultivating meaningful relationships that will not only enrich my professional journey but also provide opportunities for mentorship, learning, and collaboration.”
