Latifah is from Kampala, Uganda. She recently graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Public Health and a minor in Women Studies at St. Catherine University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Latifah is certified by the American Red Cross and the Minnesota AIDS Project as an HIV instructor. During her studies, she travelled to Ilula, Tanzania, where she conducted community health assessments, educated 15-18 year olds at Ilula Secondary School about HIV/AIDS, and provided care to HIV patients via mobile clinics. She also designed and presented HIV education workshops for several audiences including health professionals, undergraduate students, and 13-15 year olds. Latifah's career interests are deeply rooted in public health and international development. Her dream is to become the African Regional Director of the World Health Organization. She wrote her senior honors thesis entitled, "When Helping Really Helps: How to Effectively Help Without Hurting the Poor at the Bottom of the Pyramid in Developing Countries." Her paper was published and it can be found through Google Scholar.
