Lonnie is from Bangor, Maine. He is the founder of the non-profit organization Healthy Kids/Brighter Future, which employs a unique model of healthcare delivery and health education. The organization currently provides medical care to over 10,000 low-income children in Zambia. Lonnie completed his undergraduate studies at Bowdoin College, majoring in biochemistry. While at Bowdoin College, he worked as an academic mentor, a senior interviewer with the Bowdoin Admissions Office, and a teaching assistant. Lonnie is a recipient of a National Truman Scholarship, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a Samuel Huntington Public Service Award National Fellow, and a College Football Hall of Fame National Scholar Athlete. He has also received multiple fellowships allowing him to spend his past three summers conducting research and volunteering at health clinics in Nepal and Zambia. Lonnie likes to stay active in Bangor, both in the outdoors and at the local gym.
