Originally from Washington, DC, Mara Gordon studied history and English at the University of Pennsylvania. At Penn, she worked as an editor and writer for the Daily Pennsylvanian, Penn's student newspaper, and spent a summer working at a school in Botswana. After she graduated in 2008, she spent a year working for the Clinton Health Access Initiative in Tanzania. She returned to the States in 2009 to complete Bryn Mawr College's postbaccalaureate, pre-medical program, and is planning on starting medical school in 2011. She still loves nonfiction writing, and is excited to blog about her experiences in Malawi.
