Health equity is recognizing that each and every individual has full and equal opportunities that enables them to lead a healthy life, irrespective of their race, gender, socioeconomic status, religion, ethnicity, nationality, disability, etc.

Maram Barakat hails from Lebanon. She is a fierce and passionate advocate of sexual and reproductive health rights. Most recently, she was a monitoring and evalulation specialist at Common Threads Project, where she developed questionnaires that capture the attitudes of women on men as a result of trauma. Maram was selected as one the leaders in the Young Leaders Program at Women Deliver to advocate for sexual and reproductive health rights. She was also awarded a grant with Davis Projects For Peace to implement her peace-building project in Lebanon. In her free time, Maram enjoys engaging in extreme sports and reading. She holds a Master of Arts from Columbia University.
