Majo is from Guatemala. She completed her undergraduate degree in Anthropology at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. While at university, she co-founded M.U.J.E.R.ES, a student group dedicated to empowering female students by providing them with a space to teach themselves about sexual education and sexual rights. Majo received her Master’s degree in International Development with a Certificate in Global Health Affairs at the University of Denver. During her studies, she traveled to Guatemala to work on sexual education for adolescents at Population Council, and subsequently traveled to Delhi, India with the Jaishankar Memorial Centre for a maternal health monitoring and evaluation system linked to community mapping. Majo’s hobbies include music, photography, and basketball.
