Building on collective momentum, rather than carving separate paths, is what will allow us to achieve progress towards global health equity.

Mia is from Arlington, Massachusetts. She recently completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University, where she majored in community health. Prior to starting college, Mia interned at an economic and human rights initiative in Washington, D.C., worked at an archaeological dig site in Lima, Peru and taught English outside of Buenos Aires, Argentina. At Brown, Mia was a patient advocate with Health Leads, a nonprofit organization that staffs students in primary care clinics to assist patients with connecting to social services and enrolling in public benefits. She completed an undergraduate thesis about the mental health care needs of female veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is an advocate for issues surrounding sexual assault on and off college campuses. In her spare time, Mia enjoys creative writing, yoga, and searching for the next great scoop of ice cream.
