I am a Global Health Corps fellow because I strongly believe that anyone regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality, ethnicity or financial background has the right to access quality health care.

Michael (Mike) Doogan is from Cardiff, United Kingdom. He received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from the Queen’s University of Belfast in 2012 and a master’s degree in nutrition, physical activity and public health from the University of Bristol in 2014. Michael chose to pursue a master’s degree in public health as he became interested in lifestyle choices that relate to overall health and wellbeing. For his master’s dissertation, he researched the significance of the social environment of students on their physical activity levels. He was able to discover new insights into the university experience and how it shaped behaviors that influence activity levels. Since graduating, Michael has worked on a public health team that focuses on nutrition and health inequality. He has created health education resources and a health promotion program that are accessible to the public and health care professionals to utilize when working with patients at risk of malnutrition. Michael enjoys sailing, karate and kickboxing.
