Title: Health Policy Analyst, Center for Health and Research Transformation

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Nailah Henry is a Health Policy Analyst at the Center for Health and Research Transformation who translates research into real-world impact. Nailah’s work ensures diverse communities are represented in policy and have access to Michigan's healthcare system. Nailah has worked to rectify incomplete demographic data in electronic medical system records, a deficiency that disproportionately affects communities of color and the LGBTQIA+ community. She has also worked to address the lack of maternal healthcare in rural areas of Michigan with significant immigrant and Amish populations. Nailah was an invited speaker at the 2024 Social Determinants of Health Summit organized by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, where she spoke about Michigan's behavioral health system and the opportunities for public health professionals to address its challenges. Nailah believes that health misinformation and the polarization of the public’s perception of public health are the most pressing issues in the U.S. public health space today. She is eager to join the GHC community to build the soft skills critical to tackling these pressing challenges.
