Namakando Simamuna proudly hails from Lusaka, Zambia, where she actively drives change as a Policy and Partnerships Technical Advisor for Marie Stopes Zambia. Her leadership in developing and implementing advocacy strategies has been key in shaping policies that address critical issues in reproductive and maternal health, family planning, adolescent health, and health financing. Namakando’s efforts have contributed to policy adjustments that positively impact these areas. She excels in building essential partnerships, collaborating with stakeholders to support health programs across the country. As Marie Stopes’ representative, she engages with National Working Groups focused on reproductive health, where her expertise provides valuable perspectives. Namakando also offers technical support to ensure compliance with government policies, reinforcing Marie Stopes’ commitment to national health priorities. Her dedicated work embodies the drive for transformation, contributing to improved health outcomes and positive changes for communities in Zambia. As a GHC fellow, Namakando aims to further develop her leadership and management skills while building connections with like-minded leaders across Africa.
