Nicolas is a native Texan, born in Plano and raised in San Antonio. He received his Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Texas in Austin and during his studies, traveled to Western Mexico to build adobe homes for indigenous mothers. Nicolas attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Design to study urban design. His research focused on the intersection of art, craft, and design, with a specific interest in an in-depth understanding of materiality and its contribution to a better-constructed environment. Nicolas currently focuses his time and energy on exploring the notion of architecture as a tool for public health in the Texas-Mexico borderlands. He has a special affinity for buildings made of dirt, and is also an avid cook.
