Phales is from Lusaka, Zambia. She worked with World Vision Zambia as a monitoring and evaluation officer in Sinazongwe, dedicated to the Health, Education, HIV, Food Security and Water Sanitation project. She also conducted baseline surveys and evaluations to assess the impact of the program. Phales graduated from the University of Zambia in 2009 with a degree in history. She enjoys collecting books and magazines.
