Peter is from Kigutu, a rural village in Burundi. He performed his undergraduate studies at Université Lumière de Bujumbura, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. While studying in Bujumbura, he encountered many unemployed, destitute young men who lived in the streets and turned to petty crime to feed themselves. Inspired to help these young men, Peter started a drumming club. He had learned to drum at his high school and thought to apply his skills to serve the community. Thus, he gathered the men and taught them drumming. With their new skills, they went on to perform at public events and make a living while entertaining the very neighborhood they had threatened before. After graduation Peter joined Village Health Works, and since then he has worked as a procurement officer and community mobilizer.
