Salomé Tuyisenge serves as a Regional Medical Officer for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Kigali, Rwanda, where she plays a crucial role in combating HIV and other critical infectious diseases. Her responsibilities include managing complex cases, mentoring healthcare staff, and supervising program execution. Salomé excels in reviewing reports from nurse mentors and laboratory technicians, while also guiding research programs and fostering teamwork. Among her remarkable accomplishments, she has coordinated cervical cancer screenings for over 10,000 women, which significantly increased stable patient categorization from 65% to 90% and boosted viral load coverage from 91% to 98%. These achievements not only exceeded preventative health goals but also included community testing and condom distribution. Through her unwavering passion, Salomé has developed innovative strategies that have ignited a commitment to making a difference in public health across Rwanda. As a GHC fellow, she aims to enhance her leadership skills and gain deeper insights into global health. Salomé is excited to tackle health inequalities and partner with diverse teams to amplify her impact on public health, facilitating sustainable healthcare solutions.
