Samantha Chivers is from Sydney, Australia. After completing her Master of Public Health at Sydney University, Samantha started her career as an adviser to senior management of an ethnic minority government on the Thai-Burma border. There, she wrote her MPH honors capstone as an end-line evaluation of a Doctors Without Borders malaria control project in ceasefire zones of eastern Burma. Samantha then worked at the United Nations in Bangkok, where she developed health policy and programs across Asia. Recently, she led two successful advocacy campaigns for vaccines and nutrition for an Australian NGO. She has also done academic research across a number of health issues. Sam holds postgraduate degrees in public health, communications, and politics from the University of Sydney, an undergraduate science degree from University of Technology Sydney, and has also studied advocacy and leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School. She is looking forward to exploring the coffee and hiking scenes in Washington, DC.
