Sarah Pickersgill hails from Toronto, Canada but grew up most of her life in Columbus, Ohio. Sarah attended McGill University where she majored in chemistry with a focus on environmental health. During the summers, Sarah worked for Appalachia Service Project where she provided affordable, safe, and sanitary housing to families in central Appalachia. After university, Sarah worked as the site coordinator for a Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) Freedom School, a program run by CDF which provides summer and after-school enrichment aimed at helping children fall in love with reading. Sarah then moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked for Malaria No More. There, she worked to elevate malaria on the global health agenda.
