I welcome the opportunity to work towards greater understanding and respect among individuals of varying backgrounds because I believe cross-cultural collaboration presents a tremendous opportunity in the effort to achieve health equity.

Shelbi Flynn is from Greensboro, North Carolina and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in anthropology and global health. While in Chapel Hill, Shelbi served as the healthcare coordinator for a local refugee resettlement agency, as well as a program assistant for a community farm project. Most recently, Shelbi was a public health associate with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at the New Orleans Health Department. Shelbi spent her first year in New Orleans managing community partnerships and strategic planning for Fit NOLA, the city’s chronic disease prevention initiative. The following year, Shelbi coordinated outreach and enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace and assisted with the department’s mental health diversion program at municipal court. She enjoys exploring outdoors, festivals, trail running, and discussing philosophy.
