Health equity is when every individual, regardless of sex, race, age, social status, has equal access to health and health care services. The services should be affordable in order to enhance the person's well being.

Thomas Mugumya hails from Kampala, Uganda. He is a passionate public health practitioner who has played a key role in health promotion campaigns in rural areas of Eastern and Northern Uganda on cholera and malaria respectively. As a public health volunteer at Uganda Red Cross society, Thomas contributed to the containment of a cholera outbreak in seven districts in Eastern Uganda. While working in Quality Control at Holland Dairy, he also led the successful implementation of a production and packaging plan called HACCP. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys watching movies and going on adventure tours with his friends. He holds a Master of Public Health from Makerere University.
