Health equity means children from low income communities gaining access to better and more affordable health care services.

Tikulirekuti Banda hails from Lusaka, Zambia. She is passionate about promoting health equity in developing countries because breaking the vicious circle of poverty and ill health is an essential prerequisite for economic development. Most recently, Tikulirekuti worked as a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer for Sustainable Agricultural Program, a local non-government organization aimed at empowering women with economic and leadership skills. Tikulirekuti has also been actively involved in a collaborative project evaluation exercise between a local organization and the University of Zambia, Health Policy Department that assessed the cost-effectiveness of Tuberculosis interventions in selected parts of the Lusaka district in Zambia. Tikulirekuti holds a Bachelor of Arts in development studies and sociology from the University of Zambia and is currently working on her Master’s degree in public health, health policy, and management from the University of Zambia. In her free time, Tikulirekuti enjoys traveling, learning new languages, reading, and cooking.
