T. Arthur Chibwana Gama is a Senior Manager at IDinsight, where he manages engagements in East and Southern Africa and leads IDinsight in Malawi. He helps governments, parliaments, civil society leaders, development partners, and funders in Africa to make better decisions through data and evidence to enhance the social impact of their programs. Arthur is a Director on the Boards of World Connect Malawi and Tumaini Letu.
For 12 years, Arthur has led research and development programs in health, social protection, poverty and inequality, agricultural economics, education, and public sector systems strengthening. He previously worked with Christian Aid as a Regional Economic Justice Thematic Lead for southern Africa and held various research and M&E roles at International Potato Center and Mothers2Mothers. In addition, he has consulted for international organizations, including the World Bank, International Food Policy Research Institute, Last Mile Health, several USG-funded programs, International Wheat and Maize Improvement Center, and International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, among others.
Arthur was a 2011 GHC Fellow and served as President of the Malawi Alumni Community for two terms, among other leadership roles in the alum community. He holds a Master of Science degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics jointly from the University of Malawi and the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the University of Malawi.
