Currently living in Lusaka, Zambia, Chanda Mwamba serves as MERL Manager at Copper Rose Zambia, where he works closely with adolescents and young people to create safe spaces for dialogue, feedback, and knowledge sharing. By employing community-led monitoring and participatory approaches, he ensures that youth voices actively shape programs and services, making health interventions more responsive and equitable.
Chanda’s dedication to public health was shaped early in his career. He began as an intern in the Department of Community Development, where he observed firsthand how community engagement can generate actionable insights for positive health outcomes. He also worked as a researcher in Shibuyunji, partnering with local communities to address nutritional inequities through data-driven, community-led solutions. These experiences laid the foundation for his commitment to using evidence to inform inclusive health programming.
In his current role, Chanda has designed data tools, facilitated discussions between adolescents and health workers, and translated findings into actionable recommendations for more than ten projects, including Youth Care and Kids to Care. His work strengthens adolescent health programming and policy in Zambia, ensuring interventions are both evidence-based and responsive to community needs.
Chanda is committed to fostering health equity by identifying gaps in access and outcomes, particularly for underserved youth, and translating community-led monitoring findings into targeted interventions. His leadership is inspired by the words of Myles Munroe: “Leadership is not about control, but service. It’s not about power, but empowerment. It’s not about manipulation, but inspiration.”
