His research harnesses large-scale data to analyze longitudinal trends in noncommunicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease across 14 hospitals and numerous community health sites in Missouri and Illinois. In his current role, David is energized by projects that integrate real-world clinical, geospatial, and social determinants of health data from over two million patients to uncover geographic disparities in hypertension and type 2 diabetes. This work informs targeted interventions to improve health equity across communities.
David’s dedication to health equity is rooted in a commitment to healing and protecting vulnerable populations through both clinical care and data-driven solutions. He embraces the idea that leadership begins with genuine care for people, inspired by Francis W. Peabody’s words: “One of the essential qualities of the clinician is interest in humanity, for the secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.”
