Julius Kyomya

Deputy Director

Front Rise Health Uganda

Julius Kyomya serves as the Deputy Director at Front Rise Health Uganda, where he works directly with communities in southwestern Uganda to improve mental health, sexual and reproductive health, and awareness around antimicrobial resistance. He engages through workshops, outreach, and campaigns, fostering open dialogue and empowering underserved populations with knowledge to address their unique health needs.

Julius is particularly proud of leading a 12-member team to develop a non-invasive continuous glucose monitor prototype under the SUKALI CARE project (2023–2024). This initiative, supported by a $5,500 seed grant and tested in a community feasibility study, addressed critical gaps in diabetes care for underserved populations.

In his current role, Julius is excited about training informal caregivers for persons with dementia in Rukiga District. Early results show improvements not only in the quality of care provided to persons with dementia but also in the mental health and well-being of the caregivers themselves.

Julius is committed to bridging healthcare gaps for underserved communities through innovative, community-centered approaches that amplify local voices and drive sustainable, equitable solutions. He is inspired by Desmond Tutu’s words, “I am what I am because of who we all are,” approaching leadership with a focus on collective action, collaboration, and shared impact.
