Yasa Chola Bwalya strengthens health data systems and digital tools to improve healthcare delivery at both facility and community levels. She builds strong relationships with healthcare providers and community leaders to ensure that technology solutions are relevant, sustainable, and trusted, ultimately fostering better health outcomes.

Outside of her current role, Yasa co-led the development of Zambia’s first Health Informatics curriculum, a collaborative initiative with the Ministry of Health, CDC Zambia, CIDRZ, UNZA, NMCZ, and UKZN, which builds local capacity and advances the long-term success of digital health systems. She also led the transition of health facilities from paper-based to electronic health records, improving operational efficiency, data accuracy, and patient care.

In her current position, Yasa has championed the Ministry of Health’s Data Governance Framework, developing guidelines for data access and sharing, and is leading the creation of a Statutory Instrument for health data management in compliance with Zambia’s Data Protection Act 2021. She also leads Quality Assurance and Quality Control for key HIV surveillance programs, ensuring reliable data informs national decisions and strengthens the HIV response.

Yasa is committed to advancing health equity by ensuring all communities have access to quality healthcare supported by reliable data and digital tools.
