“We are grateful to be invited by the esteemed New York Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell. We’ll ring the bell to celebrate the unwavering commitment of GHC leaders to advancing health equity all around the world.” said Heather Anderson, CEO of GHC. “The pandemic illustrated that effective, collaborative health leaders are a powerful force for change. The GHC community is driving that change every day.”
Anderson joined GHC in 2012, working alongside Co-Founder and CEO Barbara Bush and a global team to advance GHC’s mission of mobilizing a generation of leaders for health equity. Her visionary leadership as CEO since 2019 has catalyzed growth and impact, even throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Anderson and GHC Board Chair Pauly Rodney will ring the closing bell from the iconic bell podium, along with GHC alumni and staff.
Since its founding, GHC has recruited, trained, and supported 1150+ emerging leaders with diverse skill sets and backgrounds to make a sustained impact on health systems. During the pandemic, GHC fellows served as a critical talent pipeline for dozens of frontline health organizations in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia. GHC alumni — many of whom are Founders, CEOs, and senior leaders — led their organizations and communities through the crisis.
In the wake of COVID-19, GHC is committed to nurturing hundreds more rising leaders across Sub-Saharan Africa. The organization is also poised to launch a new fellowship in the U.S. next year, given the nation’s urgent need to bolster the public health workforce and diversify leadership. GHC will prioritize investment in those who are least supported and represented in decision making roles, including women, people of color, and early career professionals.
“Several of GHC’s corporate partners are traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Their support allows GHC to save and improve more lives in partnership with Ministries of Health, local and rural clinics, and NGOs. We appreciate their shared belief in the power of the next generation of leaders to transform health in our lifetimes,” GHC Board Chair Pauly Rodney said.
The Closing Bell will ring at 4:00 p.m. ET, and interested parties may tune in to broadcast media coverage of the bell as well as a live stream on the NYSE’s website at: https://www.nyse.com/bell.
Videos and photos during and following the ceremony will be shared on NYSE’s social media channels: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and on Twitter @NYSE and on GHC’s social media channels: @GlobalHealthCorps on Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn and @ghcorps on Twitter.
