Role Overview
The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for designing and advising the MoH on relevant policies and insurance premiums. They will carry careful analysis for each policy to ensure they are standardized and are in compliance with the MoH goals. They will play a prominent role in gathering statistical data to analyze, and for presentation to MoH relevant Departments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the relevant MoH Department to study and analyze statistical data
- Advise the MoH on the likely costs for health insurances
- Triangulation and projections of actuarial valuations for the optimization of public and private health insurance schemes
- Ensure risk valuation and premium estimation methodology used is in line with regulation and actuarial best practice standards
- Analyze actuaries’ reports and advise on next steps
- Generate charts and presenting them at meetings along with proper explanations
- In collaboration with the Data analyst, apply mathematical models as required to forecast and calculate the probable future costs of insurance and pension benefits
- Advise on health insurance policies, and calculate premiums, contributions and benefits for insurance policies
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, health economics, economics, commerce, business administration or any related field. A Master’s degree would be an added advantage;
- Proven strong knowledge of statistics, probability and calculus
- Proven strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly relay information to different departments
- Strong analytical skills to determine specifics of insurance policies and avoid or limit any errors that would lead to negative consequences
- Experience with computers and statistical modeling software
- Knowledge of business trends and financial concepts
- Organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects or cases at a time.
- Ability to work quickly and multi-task
- Willingness to deliver products under time pressure and short deadlines.
- Self-starter, self-motivated, self-manager.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including integrity, good judgment, team working and diplomacy.
