About the Organization

Nama Wellness Community Centre (NAWEC) is a locally registered NGO in Mukono District. The organization was officially opened in May 2014 and had a long tradition of providing high-quality health care to the people of Mukono district and the surrounding areas, specifically focusing on women, children, and youth. The decision to open the organization was based on a thorough community assessment which revealed limited access to several health services. Since its inception as an organization, NAWEC has served the Nama Sub-County region by providing comprehensive primary health care services. Over the last three years, we have begun implementing a more comprehensive, systems-strengthening model. We have taken a much more central role in the district by focusing on health service delivery with our four-pillared approach, which includes: 1) training and mentoring CHWs 2) building the capacity of government health centers, 3), conducting clinical outreaches, and 4) providing excellent services and clinical training at our Health Centre III, research, policy influence and advocacy.
