I live in the small town of Kasese, nearly 300km west of Kampala, not far from the Congo border. The Lonely Planet Guide describes Kasese as a “hot, dusty, and rundown” town. A town to be forgotten, merely a by-way to the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park and Rwenzori Mountains.

But after living here, I would describe Kasese differently. I would describe Kasese as having “undiscovered charm”. A charm that hides itself beneath the admittedly hot, dusty, and rundown facade that characterizes this town.

This is the Kasese I see…

These days I simply describe Kasese as home. Full of charm, mystery, and so many things yet to be discovered.
